Oak Mountain rolls in 35-7 victory over Spain Park

Hoover, AL – The Oak Mountain Eagles improved to 5-1 (3-1 in region play) for the first time since 2014 with a 35-7 victory over Cahaba Valley rival Spain Park Thursday night at Bob Finley Field.  

The loss slips Spain Park to 1-5, 0-4 in Class 7A Region 3 play.

Northeastern University commit Evan Smith turned in another electric performance leading the Eagles with four rushing touchdowns and one through the air as Oak Mountain rolled up 265 yards on the ground.

Smith finished the game with 93 yards through the air, completing 8-of-11 passes with a touchdown and a pic while running for 158 yards on 16 carries and four scores the ground.  Ethan Hammett lead the Eagle receiving corps with three receptions for 41 yards.  C.J. Branson carried the ball eight times for 30 yards and touchdown reception, Cade George ran for 17 yards on five attempts and hauled in three catches for 28 yards.  

Zamar Faris lead Spain Park on the ground with 72 yards on 14 carries.  Quarterback Evan Smallwood passed for 62 yards with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions, completing 5-of-10 throws before being injured in the second half.  

Oak Mountain returns to action Friday night welcoming Tuscaloosa County to Herdmont Park.  Spain Park welcomes cross-town rival Hoover to Valleydale Road.
