Hoover quarterback Bennett Meredith commits to Big Ten program

Hoover, AL – Hoover’s Bennett Meredith is heading to Northwestern University.  The 6’3, 190 pound three-star signal caller announced his commitment to the Big Ten program a few days after leading the undefeated Hoover Bucs to a 24-21 come-from-behind win over powerhouse Thompson.

Meredith has thrown for 2,212 yards and 23 touchdowns against six interceptions through the 10 game regular season.  His career stats currently stand at 5,318 passing yards, 47 touchdowns and 12 pics including his junior campaign at Spain Park in 2019.

The pro-style quarterback picked Northwestern over Arizona State, Appalachian State, Troy, Toledo, Louisiana-Monroe and Jacksonville State among others.

Meredith is the second 7A, Region 3 standout to commit to the Wildcats.  Oak Mountain quarterback Evan Smith, who is projected to play defensive back at the next level, pledged to Northwestern in July.  McGill-Toolen Catholic defensive back Braden Turner is also committed to the Wildcats.

Meredith and the No. 1 ranked Hoover Bucs host the Sparkman Senators this Friday night at the Hoover Met to kickoff the AHSAA Class 7A postseason.
