Former Hoover QB Robby Ashford commits to Auburn

Auburn, AL – Former Hoover Bucs and University of Oregon quarterback Robby Ashford has committed to Bryan Harsin’s Auburn Tigers.

Ashford was a four-star prospect, rated as the nation 10th best dual threat signal caller according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, coming out of Hoover High in 2020.  He joins Oregon teammates Jason Jones and D.J. James who announced that they will also be transferring to The Plaines.

Ashford suffered a foot injury early in his senior season at Hoover but returned in the postseason to lead the Bucs to a pair of playoff victories before falling to eventual Class 7A state champion Thompson in the 2019 semifinals.  He completed 84-of-170 passes for 1,088 yards over five games as a senior.  As a junior, Ashford completed 148-of-269 passes for 2,542 yards and 22 touchdowns while running 100 times for 623 yards and seven scores.

He will have four years of eligibility remaining after redshirting following a hand injury during his freshman season in Eugene.
