Dustan Goode returns as Mortimer Jordan head football coach

Kimberly, AL – Former Mortimer Jordan head coach Dustan Goode is returning to the helm of the Blue Devils football program. 

Goode takes the reigns from Stuart Floyd who lead the Devils to a 2-8 record, including a 1-5 mark in region play in 2021.  

Before stepping away from the head coaching position following the 2020 season, Goode led Jordan to one of their most successful runs in program history.  He guided the Blue Devils to a combined 70-30 record including four region titles, seven consecutive playoff appearances, a pair of AHSAA Class 5A semifinal berths, a 40-13 mark in region play and a 14-7 run in the postseason during his eight year stint at the north Jefferson County program.

Goode originally joined Greg Watts’ Mortimer Jordan staff as an assistant in 2012 before being elevated to lead the program prior to the 2013 season. He spent one season as the head coach of the Dora Bulldogs, posting a 9-3 record and a trip to the second round of the Class 4A playoffs in 2011.  Earlier in his career he spent time as an assistant at McAdory and Thompson. 

Goode’s career head coaching record currently stands at 79-33 with eight playoff appearances and five seasons with at least 10 victories over nine years.  

Jordan kicks off their 2022 campaign at Jimmie Trotter Field August 19th against the 5A Leeds Green Wave.  The Blue Devils join rival Gardendale, Over the Mountain power Mountain Brook and metro area foes Jackson-Olin, Minor, Parker and Woodlawn in a redrawn Class 6A, Region 5 in 2022.
